THE GREAT UK OUTDOORS

  • Invite a wilderness and bushcraft expert – such as Ray Mears to join you one afternoon for foraging and then a cooking masterclass with a difference
  • What about Ben Saunders taking the team on an exploration up into the wilds of Scotland?
  • Blow the budget and invite Ranulph Fiennes to come and sit around a camp fire and amuse and thrill the group with his stories and tales! of his adventures and leadership. He comes highly recommended!
  • Or simply arrange for your team to go for a healthy walk in the Yorkshire Dales and finish with a surprise barbeque and overnight by a babbling brook.

The Event Business will manage the whole process and a dedicated event manager (or team of event managers) would be on site to ensure that all your requirements and needs are met. Change of plan? Late arrivals? “could we just…” all important elements that we will ensure are looked after seamlessly. We can even build a conference and presentation area in the middle of nowhere.

FESTIVALS

Glamping (or posh camping) at Festivals in the UK is becoming more and more popular…and sophisticated. With such a variety of festivals throughout the UK, they are an ideal setting to entertain your clients, or bring your team together.  So why not invite your guests to join you for an evening or the whole weekend to one of the UK’s best-loved festivals.  We did and it was a roaring success!

For The Event Business 15th Anniversary, we hosted a VVIP tent at the wonderful Cornbury festival www.cornburyfestival.com (Nicknamed 'Poshstock' - the best boutique music festival weekend in the heart of Oxfordshire UK) and invited our contacts and friends who we had worked with and who had supported us over the years.  Cornbury is very much a family festival and we encouraged our guests to bring their whole family.

We brought in a Moroccan tent, set it up beside the main VIP tent (whose facilities we shared) and furnished it with sumptuous materials and cushions, we created a food and bar area with all day service, there was a children’s corner with face painting and storytelling. Deckchairs outside to view the music and the rest of the festival ground, masseurs offering neck and shoulders massages and very friend security to ensure that the area remained private.  Glamping was available for all.

Our clients and suppliers still rave about the day whenever we see them.  We loved it ourselves so much that we took ourselves off to the Rewind festival at Henley for another spot of Glamping and fun last year.  It is such a great opportunity to kick off your shoes and relax, something that is tricky to do when you are so busy with projects, and we would encourage any organisation to do the same.

“Like their events The Event Business thought of everything.  The usual problem of child care 'because only Mummy and Daddy were invited' wasn't a problem, whilst the bigger problem of never being forgiven for going to a festival without them was also avoided.

The Bedouin tent was a really amazing place that made all ages feel immediately at home whilst catering for their every need.

The whole day was genuinely special for me and my whole family and is still talked about with great fondness by all.

I really could witter on about it for hours:  Introducing your 13 year old daughter to the Damned, getting absolutely soaking wet and not one complaint from anyone, dressing your children up as rock chicks ..............................awesome!!!!!!”

Generally at Summer Festivals, the music and entertainment starts in the early afternoon so why not incorporate a group activity and lunch beforehand?

  • At the Big Chill Festival – we can arrange the best UK off-road driving experience for your group in a fleet of Land Rovers around the spectacular Eastnor Castle Estate, with a tailgate picnic looking over the festival site.
  • At the Rewind Festival. Please click here – we will organise a river cruise down the Thames with a delicious barbeque and buffet on board.
  • What about meeting at Goodwood Festival of Speed and let us arrange a glampsite nearby and shuttle you direct to the event site via private access?
  • For the more adventurous,  what about Wakestock  and the added entertainment of the wakeboarding competitions.

WHY NOT MAKE YOUR NEXT INCENTIVE OR INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE EVENT THAT EXTRA BIT SPECIAL AND HOST IT OUTDOORS.

A few of our favourite international glamping experiences that we would recommend:

  • Sleep under the stars in France beside the Loire and arrange a tour of the vineyards.  We can bring in experts in areas such as woodland craft, nature-spotting, bread-making and fire-making.
  • Experience a unique occasion in Norway to view the Northern Lights and stay in Yurts tested down to -28  (2012 is meant to be the best year ever to view the Northern Lights). Please click here. Each yurt sleeps four and has a wooden floor and a woodburning stove and will be located in the middle of a forest with lakes nearby for fishing and canoeing (and dog-sledding in winter).
  • Stay in treehouses overlooking the clear waters of the Mediterranean in Turkey at the Sundance Camp
  • Maroon yourself in the Netherlands on an uninhabited man-made island, De Kluut. The site spans half the island and only 50 people are allowed on the island at a time. We will set up tipis, turts and Sahara tents and arrange yoga, meditation and even sound-therapy workshops.
  • Tented camps in the Masai Mara and take a balloon ride over the savannahs in the early morning.

The ideas do not stop there – and I hope this gives you a taste of the type of events we can organise for you.
